Privacy Policy

Last updated October 28, 2026

Ready Set Go Adventure ("we", "us") runs www.readysetgoadventure.com and the Ready Set Go app: destination guides, a free trip planner and a traveler community. We're based in Richland, Washington, USA. This policy explains what we collect, why, and the choices you have. We wrote it in plain English on purpose.

The short version

  • We don't sell your information, and we don't show ads that track you.
  • Your profile and trips are private until you choose to share them. Each post has its own setting: Only me, Friends or Public.
  • We remove location and device data from every photo and video you upload.
  • You can download a copy of everything in your account, or delete your account and everything in it, yourself, any time, from Profile & privacy.
  • Chat messages are deleted after 30 days, and kept 30 days after you delete your account, for safety.

What we collect

When you join

  • Your name and email address, and a password (stored only in scrambled, one-way form; we can't read it).
  • Your date of birth (to confirm you're 16 or older), and that you agreed to our terms and this policy, and when.

What you choose to add

  • Profile: display name (what other members see instead of your account name), photo, banner, bio, home region, adventure types and places you've been; optional personal details (schools you went to or go to, where you're from, birthday, family, sex), each shown to others only if you tick Show (your birthday shows as month and day only, never the year or your age); photos you pin as Highlights; the page background you pick (a preset or a wallpaper photo you upload); and your profile link name (readysetgoadventure.com/name), which starts as a random number.
  • Posts and reels: text, photos, videos, music you add, places and guides you tag, comments, reactions and friends you tag.
  • Trips: destinations, dates, itinerary, bookings, budget, packing lists and notes.
  • Connections: friends, friend requests, blocks, places you follow, groups you join and event RSVPs.
  • Chats: messages, photos and meetup plans you send to other members, which chats you're in and what you've read. Only the people in that chat can see them; a moderator sees a single message only if someone reports it. Kept for 30 days, then deleted.
  • Messages to us: contact form messages, reports you send, and newsletter sign-ups.

Collected automatically

  • Server logs: your IP address, browser type and the pages requested, kept about two weeks to keep the site secure and working.
  • Visitor stats: we run our own privacy-friendly stats tool (Umami) on our own server. It uses no cookies, doesn't follow you to other sites, and only shows us totals such as page views, referring sites, country and device type.
  • Days you were active: when you're logged in, we note which days you opened the community (the date only, not what you looked at), so we can count how many members use the site each day, week, month and year.
  • Ads: the site shows ads for our own features, sponsors and affiliate programs, always labeled. We count how many times each ad was shown and clicked, per day, as totals only. We don't record who saw or clicked an ad, don't set advertising cookies ourselves, and don't share anything about you with advertisers. If you click an ad that goes to another company's site, their privacy policy applies there; affiliate links may tell that company the click came from us.
  • Spam check: the sign-up, password reset and contact forms use Cloudflare Turnstile to tell people from spam robots. While you're on those forms, Cloudflare receives your IP address and basic browser details to run the check; usually you won't see anything. Cloudflare's privacy policy applies to that check.
  • Cookies: the site's own cookies are only the ones it needs to work, such as keeping you logged in and protecting forms. Our affiliate partner Travelpayouts runs a script on our pages, and partner sites you click through to (such as tour, transfer and eSIM companies) may set their own cookies to credit us for a booking. They don't get your account information from us.
  • Phone notifications: if you turn them on, your browser gives us a notification address for that device. You can turn them off any time.

Photos and videos are re-saved on our server before anyone sees them, which removes GPS location, camera details and recording time.

How we use it

  • To run your account, the trip planner and the community, and show your content to the people you chose.
  • To send emails you need: confirming your address, password resets, and notices about your account, plus notifications you can switch off.
  • To send our newsletter, only if you signed up. Every newsletter has an unsubscribe link.
  • To keep the community safe: reviewing reports, enforcing the Community Guidelines, and stopping spam and abuse.
  • To understand which guides and features are used, so we can improve them.

Who can see your information

  • Other members and visitors see only what you share, following your settings. Public posts can be seen by anyone, including people without an account. Friends-only posts are seen by friends you've accepted. Your email address is never shown to other members.
  • Our team (admins and volunteer moderators) can see content when needed to run the site and handle reports.
  • Service providers who help us run the site, only as needed: our hosting provider (our server is in the United States), Google (Gmail) for sending email, and the push services built into your phone or browser (Apple, Google, Mozilla) for notifications. Map pictures on the guides load from OpenStreetMap, which sees your IP address when they load.
  • The law: if we're legally required to, or to protect someone's safety.
  • If Ready Set Go Adventure is ever sold or merged, this policy would continue to apply to your information, and we'd tell you first.

We don't sell or rent personal information, and we don't share it for advertising.

Affiliate links

Some pages link to partners such as tour, transfer, booking and eSIM companies, through affiliate networks such as Travelpayouts. If you book through one of these links we may earn a commission, at no extra cost to you. If you click one, that site's own privacy policy applies, and it may know you came from us. We never send them your account information. See our Affiliate Disclosure.

How long we keep it

  • Your account and content stay until you delete them or your account.
  • Chat messages (and chat photos and meetups) are deleted automatically 30 days after they're sent. If you delete a message, it's hidden right away and deleted at its 30 days. When you delete your account, your chat messages are hidden right away but kept for 30 more days for safety, on our server and seen only by our admins, then deleted. A message someone reported is kept until a moderator has dealt with the report.
  • When you delete something, it's gone from the site right away and from our backups within 14 days.
  • Uploads you start but never post are deleted automatically after a day.
  • If an account is suspended, we may keep a short record of why, to prevent repeat abuse.

Your choices and rights

  • See and change your profile, posts and trips any time.
  • Control who sees what under Profile & privacy and on each post.
  • Block anyone, so you won't see each other anywhere in the community.
  • Delete your account: Profile & privacy › Delete my account. This permanently removes your profile, posts, reels, photos, videos, comments, reactions, trips, connections and newsletter sign-ups, and wipes your name and email from our records. Chat messages are hidden right away and deleted 30 days later (see How long we keep it).
  • Download a copy of your information yourself, any time: Profile & privacy › Download my data gives you one zip file with your account details, profile, posts with their photos and videos, comments, reactions, profile photos, friends, chats (the last 30 days), trips, events and groups. Questions about your information: email readysetgoadventure25@gmail.com. We'll answer within 30 days.

Depending on where you live (for example California, Washington, or the EU and UK), you may have extra rights under local law, such as the right to know, correct, delete or move your data, and to complain to a data protection authority. Email us and we'll help. We don't treat you differently for using these rights.

Children

You must be 16 or older to create an account, and 16- and 17-year-olds need a parent or guardian's permission. We don't knowingly collect information from anyone under 16. If you believe someone under 16 has an account, email us and we'll delete it.

Security

The whole site uses encrypted connections (HTTPS), passwords are stored scrambled, accounts need a confirmed email, and our server is firewalled and backed up nightly. No system is perfect, so use a password you don't use elsewhere. If a breach ever affects your information, we'll tell you as the law requires.

Changes

If we make important changes, we'll tell members by email or a notice on the site before they take effect. The "last updated" date at the bottom shows when this policy last changed.
